"I'm hooked, and this thing is stronger than I am." I know I need a "Higher Power" and I know that is God, but how can He help me break the strangle hold of this addiction?

This question has been asked by every addict I know. We feel like the tax collector in Luke 18:9-14, too ashamed to even look up. We act like the possessed man in Luke 8:25-39, cutting ourselves off from people with actions or words. Our shackles and demons are lies that we tell ourselves.

Jesus loves us but we can’t see why. As an addict, lies are your life. We stay in the dark, but each step taken toward Jesus brings more light and truth. It won’t happen overnight, but as Josiah renewed the covenant in 2 Kings 23:1-25, Jesus allows us to begin anew, grow in His light, and follow His truth.
